Contemporary Issues Project Presentation and Wiki Requirements:
After your annotated bibliography is handed in, we will continue with our Contemporary Issues segment of our Unit. During the segment, each student will give a 2-3 minute presentation based upon the Research Essay in which research on images and integration of summary into a wiki research will be completed. In the Presentation, each student will present his/her thesis to the class and explain “who is benefiting and who is harmed” by the economic shift to Capitalism from Communism or the increasing Westernization of Chinese culture, or others changes presently impacting China. Each student will summarize their findings on a wiki which they will present, with appropriately researched and cited images, on the internet. After each student presents, as a class we will discuss how geography, history, and contemporary issues come together in these issues. We will ponder: will China be the next economic superpower? Diplomatic superpower? How is this impacting the United States? What impact is Westernization having on China? This Presentation and the creation of the accompanying wiki will count as a significant grade. These presentations and the accompanying discussions will complete our Contemporary Issues segment of our China discussion and lead us into our discussion of Japan.
